Several news organizations are reporting rumors that HP may put in a bid to buy RIM. Shares of Research In Motion Ltd. climbed as much 21 per cent in trading friday on intense speculation that Hewlett-Packard Co. plans to buy the maker of handheld electronics devices.
A spokesman for RIM declined to comment on the movement of the company's share price and said no news release was planned. Officials at HP declined to comment.
