Are you a Treo 700wx user who recently converted from a PPC6700? One of the things I miss most about my PPC 6700 is a speed dial page where I can dial my most frequently called contacts. I started looking for a speed dial application that would allow me to get speed dial buttons on my Treo 700wx and came across a program called Hotlist 2.0 by TecMobile Software. The screen capture looked good so I decided to try it.
My first clue should have been that there was no demo to try. In this day and age, who doesn't provide a demo? I was suspect, but I decided to pay the $10.99 for the application in hopes that it would work for me.
I downloaded and installed the program and to my surprise, it came up with errors immediately. I was unable to run the program at all. I wrote to the developers to inquire, and was told that they found issue that would be fixed the next day. They gave me a workaround that didn't work so well, but I finally managed to get the program loaded.
It took 16 seconds for the program to load the first time, and up to 20 seconds at other times. If you are going to use this software you'll need to have it load automatically, and you'll need to keep it running in the background. I found that even with it running in the background it was way too slow! It was so slow that I'm not surprised that they do not provide a demo of this software. I found it totally unusable and ridiculously slow. It would be faster for me to simply look up someone in my contacts file and dial their number from there.
I kept trying to find a way to speed things up but there was no way to do it. It was so frustrating that I finally uninstalled the program.
At $10.99 I feel this software is not worth it. Even if Hotlist was freeware I would not have it on my phone because it's just too slow for me. I'm sorry to say I cannot recommend this software to anyone. I'm still on the hunt for a speed dial application for my Treo 700wx.
By the way, I asked TecMobile for a refund but never heard back from them. They never did send me the fix for the installation problem either. I guess they are too busy to respond. Oh well.
