Fennec, aka Firefox Mobile, is now in Alfa 2. Mozilla has just released Fennec 1.0 Alfa 2 on its web site.

Android ported to Samsung Omnia

Project Andromnia is the porting of Google's Android OS to the Samsung Omnia. The Omnia has been praised as an excellent handset when running WinMo, and now it gets a shot a running Android.

HTC Ozone heads to Verizon

Verizon has announced it will carry its own version of HTC's latest Windows Mobile Standard phone. At Sprint this one is called the Snap but Verizon's version is the Ozone.
The Verizon Ozone runs Windows Mobile Standard and includes WiFi, Verizon's Navigator and visual voicemail support, a QWERTY keyboard, and a 1500mAh battery. Motorola Q users will want to take a look at the Ozone.

HTC Snap available directly from Sprint

For the past several weeks the HTC Snap has been available at Radio Shack and Best Buy stores, but HTC's latest WinMo device is now listed on Sprint's web site.
The HTC Snap debuts HTC's Inner Circle feature which highlights emails from a pre-selected group of people. These emails are brought to the top of the user's Inbox so they can see the most important emails first.

Better late than never? You'll have to decide that for youself. Rogers is now shipping Sony Ericsson’s Xperia X1 to retail outlets across Canada and will be available within the next few days. Chinese BlackBerry clone called BlockBerry

This seems a little close for comfort and would never be tolerated in the US. The Chinese BB clone called the BlockBerry shows up in this ad featuring Barack Obama. In Chinese it reads "Obama have BlackBerry, I have BlockBerry.”
The BlockBerry device is actually a Windows Mobile 6.1 device with a 3.2-inch touchscreen, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, and supports 3G and EDGE.

Sprint Treo Pro gets ringer patch

Palm has issued a software issue for Sprint's version of the Treo Pro. The update addresses a problem with the phone's registry getting corrupted and incoming call ringers becoming silent.
"The root cause of the Treo Pro No Ringer issue is related to a rare corruption of the Treo Pro’s registry key. This can lead to the smart phone not ringing and causing the user to miss an incoming call."

It's probably not too surprising that if Palm was looking for a new CEO they'd pick the guy who oversaw the Pre launch, Jon Rubinstein. Many didn't expect a change at the top so soon though.

In case you thought the photos of the Sony Ericsson Xperia X2 were fake, think again. More photos of the Xperia X2 are surfacing and they look pretty good. This time the X2 appears in silver.
Who knows whether or not the Xperia X2 can make a bigger impact in the smartphone world than its predecessor, the X1. Our guess is probably not, but the 8.1 megapixel upgrade sounds pretty awesome. The Xperia X2 will apparently run Windows Mobile 6.5.

Sprint broke sales records with the launch of the Pre. Many Sprint stores sold out of their intial inventory which is not surprising, because they did not have many units per store. From Sprint's press release:
